Ahri To Get Rework in League of Legends Patch 12.3

Ahri To Get Rework in League of Legends Patch 12.3

Riot have confirmed an Ahri rework coming for League of Legends Season 12 with patch 12.3. After a lengthy stint outside the meta, the new changes look to refresh her kit and improve overall gameplay.

The rework also includes a complete overhaul of animations, design, and skin updates.

More carry potential for Ahri

It’s been a good while since Ahri has found any relevance in a competitive sense. With new and better alternatives on the mid lane along with a string of reworked items, her pick rate is as low as it has ever been. It also hasn’t helped that her kit has remained largely untouched for nearly a decade.

For Season 12, Riot are focusing on a number of things to increase her carry potential and overall gameplay. Principal Character Designer at Riot Games, August Browning, lists changing ‘Spirit Rush’ to extend ability duration, reworking her passive to be more viable throughout a match, and making spells ‘feel better to cast in lane’ as key areas of her rework.

Both ‘Fox Fire’ and ‘Charm’ damage will see an increase while also getting a smaller mana cost, but ‘Spirit Rush’ will be getting the bulk of the buffs for this rework.

Instead of the current basic dashes with ranged bolts, her ultimate now works in tandem with ‘Essence Theft’. Consuming a champion's Essence with her passive during her ultimate will extend recast duration by up to 10 seconds and grant an additional cast of Spirit Rush for a total of 6 dashes.

Visual revamp also in the works

Given her age and the fact that the visual fidelity of champion animations and design has improved vastly since her original release, Ahri has been in much need of a visual update.

With patch 12.3, Riot are bringing her up to par with the rest of the roster not only in gameplay, overhauling every skin with brand new animations, rigging and general graphical improvements.
