Aurelion Sol To Receive an 'Entirely New Kit' in League's Season 12
After announcing a visual and gameplay update for Udyr, Riot's League team has revealed plans to remake the entirety of Aurelion Sol's ability kit.
Riot also explained that a CGU (comprehensive gameplay update) works to rebuild a champion's abilities from the ground up while retaining their original narrative.

Lead Producer Reav3' shed light on Riot's intent to give Aurelion Sol an entirely new kit similar to VGUs like Urgot's or Sion's, while ensuring that the champion's overhauled version remains 'thematically cohesive' with his original state.
After multiple reconsiderations, Riot's League team ultimately agreed to give the champion an entirely new kit as minor tweaks or patches would fail to live up to the champion's 'dragon fantasy'.
In terms of visuals and narrative, the champion ranked top ten in polls but has been absent in League's current meta with a drastically low pick rate. With their latest set of changes to ASol, Riot aims to satisfy League players by reworking the visually grand dragon warrior.
League fans can expect the reworked ASol update by the end of 2022, as development for the champion's CGU is in full swing. Riot also revealed that if the champion's reworked state meets with success upon release, players could expect more champions to receive the CGU treatment in the future.
