Leona, Orianna and Shaco To Get Visual Updates in Season 12

Leona, Orianna, and Shaco are set to receive massive visual overhauls in League of Legends Season 12 as part of Riot Games’ efforts to bring their older champions up to par with the newest. The visual updates will include new effects for all skins.

More identifiable hitboxes

With some of the older champions in League of Legends, players have reported that their hitboxes and areas of effect can be hard to read compared to newer champions. With Season 12, Riot looks to update the visuals of their oldest champions by making their abilities more clearly defined. Leona, Orianna, and Shaco are next in line to get massive overhauls across the board.

Starting with Leona, the bulk of the update will focus on ‘Zenith Blade’ and ‘Solar Flare’, making them both much brighter and shaping the edges of Solar Flare into a ring instead of the current less obvious effect.

Leona will receive visual overhauls on the following skins:

  • Base
  • Barbecue
  • Valkyrie
  • Iron Solari
  • Pool Party
  • Defender

For Orianna, Riot has redesigned the look of her ultimate, ‘Shockwave’, to feature a much larger area of effect indicator. The Ball now also has a much more visible outline below. Champion Designer, Riot Twin Enso, also revealed that Orianna would be getting a tether indicator to more accurately display when she is getting far from the Ball.

Orianna will receive visual overhauls on the following skins:

  • Base
  • TPA
  • Orbeeanna
  • Victorious
  • Heartseeker
  • Gothic
  • Dark Star
  • Pool Party
  • Winter Wonder
  • Bladecraft
  • Sewn Chaos

Shaco fans can look forward to new visual effects, starting with his passive becoming more recognizable when hitting opponents from the back. ‘Deceive’ now emits a larger smoke cloud when Shaco disappears along with new hit effects. Jack-in-the-Box effects get new range and cast effects to help players identify the hitbox more easily.

On top of that, 'Two-Shiv Poison' gets a special effect on opponents with less than 30% health. ‘Hallucinate’ gets a complete overhaul with new colors and cast effects.

Shaco will receive visual overhauls on the following skins:

  • Base
  • Nutcracko
  • Workshop
  • Arcanist
  • Crime City Nightmare
  • Asylum
  • Royal
  • Wild Card
  • Dark Star
  • Mad Hatter
  • Masked

When can we expect it?

Riot hasn’t mentioned any official release dates for the skin overhauls, but it’s safe to assume that the update will go into effect with patch 12.7 releasing April 12.
