Riot To Release New 'Challenges' System in League's Patch 12.9
After testing the progressive Challenges system on PBE servers for almost five months, Riot Games have finally announced the date for a live-server release.
Rewarding players with a slew of titles, badges, and more, ’Challenges’ will arrive with Patch 12.9, slated to release at the start of May.
Few missions revealed ahead of release
Through the dev blog post published on Riot’s official site, Competitive Design Team Lead Jordan ‘BarackProbama’ Checkman’ revealed a few challenge missions, giving League fans a glimpse of the system ahead of its official release.
- Pop Goes the Poro: Causing a Poro to explode in ARAM will reward players the title “Poroyalty”
- Give ‘em Shell, Shelly: Take Turrets with Rift Herald (aka Shelly)
- Icon of the Rift: Obtain 100 Summoner Icons and reward players with the “Iconic” title.
- Stacks on Stacks on Stacks: Fully stacking Mejai’s Soulstealer before 20 minutes will complete this mission.
- Superior Supporting: Finishing the support quest faster than opponents will complete this mission.
- Nashor Slayer: Kill Baron Nashor solo earns the title of “Baron”.
- Aggressive Positioning: Getting multi kills after flashing toward an enemy will reward the “Flashy” title.
- Solo Carry: Dealing 40%+ of your team’s champion damage in an ARAM will complete the mission.
The progressive system would prepare players to complete 300+ individual challenges, and earn 2700 tokens and over 100 titles upon launch. As players level up and complete each mission, they would be able to show off their completed achievements on their profile in the form of badges, titles, and many more.
