Zeri Receives Nerf to Ultimate in New ‘Micro Patch’
League of Legends’ latest champion Zeri released with patch 12.2, and players were quick to discover her potential as a dominating carry when played correctly.
Her ultimate in combination with one item in particular gave opponents a hard time during teamfights, which Riot now looks to balance with a new micro patch starting today.
Runaan’s Hurricane too effective with Zeri
Zeri’s unique playstyle lets her zigzag in and out of fights, and her high mobility makes her the perfect kiting machine. Combined with Trinity Force, Runaan’s Hurricane and Titanic Hydra, the speedy Spark of Zaun gets even more mobile while also getting boosts to area of effect damage, and tankiness.
This is in part due to the great synergy between Runaan’s Hurricane and her ultimate, Lightning Crash, which turned out to be a bit more effective than what Riot initially intended. Luckily, they’ve already made changes to correct it.
Principal Character Designer at Riot Games, August Browning, announced that the interaction between her ultimate and Runaan’s Hurricane has been nerfed starting today.
We just micropatched out a nerf for Zeri's hurricane interaction. It was looking very strong.

Change:
R chain lightning is no longer an on-hit effect (which means hurricane bolts no longer apply it) pic.twitter.com/e3adEYuRC9
Runaan's Hurricane will now no longer apply Zeri's ultimate on-hit effect, which means players will not get movement speed from that item while using Lightning Crash.
Other than that, it looks as though new Zeri mains can breathe easy, as no other nerfs seems to be in play for the upcoming 12.3 patch.
