Agent Guide: Breach

Agent Guide: Breach

Despite his high skill ceiling and low pick rate, Breach is considered one of the most effective Valorant agents. Being the second initiator added to the game, Breach was the original "Flash Machine" in the game. This was before his tweaks in patch 3.0, leaving him with only two flashes.

These changes and some other minor reworks were done to allow for aim-dependent gameplay in Valorant. Due to this, players find it challenging to play Breach and effectively use him to win games.

In our Breach Agent guide, you will learn to improve your gameplay with these simple yet effective tips.

Breach: Abilities Overview

Breach has a kit that will allow you to set up plays for your team late in a fight and will be missed if you end up dying early. Knowing how to spot an enemy and read the situation is necessary if you want to master Breach. Having done so, you will be able to react faster after using specific abilities. This is why you need a good understanding of all his abilities and the proper ways to use them.

Ability: Aftershock (C)

Breach equips a fusion charge. Firing the charge sets a slow-acting burst through the wall. The burst can deal lethal damage to anyone caught in its area. Aftershock is the best weapon to use to clear corners. It takes time to detonate, and it allows you to push around the corner and catch the enemy unaware.

If used skillfully, it can also be used to lure enemies from a corner and into your line of sight, where you can easily pick them off.

Combining this ability with Flashpoint or Faultline will stun the enemy team. Do this wisely, though, as you have only one charge per round, and Aftershock can also hurt your allies. You want to fire it into a common enemy location for that odd early pick.

NOTE: Aftershock is really slow in firing, it takes around 2 seconds to detonate, and this is more than enough time for enemies to move out of the way. Therefore, you want to use the ability to force enemies out of certain positions.

Aftershock will also show a large red warning circle to warn enemies. Knowing this, try to pick specific situations to fire the ability in coordination with your team.

Ability: Flashpoint (Q)

Breach equips a blinding charge. This charge can be used through walls, and it will flash the players hiding behind the wall. This ability is pretty annoying if you're on the receiving end of it. You can shoot it into the wall and blind anyone who looks at it. This can also affect allies, so you want to use it to punish campers or surprise a team that isn't well set up for defense.

When a flash hits, you can quickly re-equip your weapon. This allows you to quickly push the enemy agents until they get their sight back. Flashpoint can be used in many different ways. Some of these include covering different vantage points, working your way through chokes, or in combination with a teammate's pushing.

Flashpoint can also come in handy in bomb sites. Breach can allow the enemy to take certain grounds with the aim of countering them after waiting behind cover. Combining this with the abilities of an allied agent can give great flank potential.

Flashpoint is also the longest-lasting flash ability in the game. Ensure to use it tactically to set your team up for clutch plays.

Ability: Faultline (E)

Breach equips a seismic blast. Players can hold the fire button to increase the distance. Releasing the button will set off the quake, concussing all players in its zone. Every 35 seconds, Breach is given the option to create a quake that will daze all players within it. The effect lasts for about 2 seconds.

This can be very helpful in displacing people from high ground and protect pushes. Faultline is another great corner clearing tool. It sends anyone caught off guard back to their spectator screen. Its use as a set-up tool for your team is also not discounted. It can give an easy win over a rival team member or punish players who are rushing to defuse.

This ability can be easily evaded, but it's extremely valuable to move defenders from their chosen position.

Ultimate ability: Rolling Thunder (X)

Breach equips a massive seismic charge. Players can fire to send a cascading quake through all terrain in a large cone. The quake concusses and knocks up anyone caught in its line. Rolling thunder is a powerful weapon that sends a shockwave through a large area. It sends players flying into the air and dazes them for a few seconds.

The goal is to follow the shockwave with your team as it progresses. This helps you and your team pick off enemy agents as they scatter for cover. This ultimate is a great tool to use when it comes to fighting. It lets you easily win fights and take points if well positioned.

Like Breach's other abilities, it is also an excellent tool for defense. It works for a stalling tactic as good as it works as an entry tool.

Breach: Tips & tricks

  • Teams typically sacrifice one of their abilities to accommodate the ghost and light shield combo. At the start of defense or attack, it is unlikely that other agents would have access to as many abilities as Breach. Make sure to use this to your advantage.
  • You want to listen for any prompts the enemy team gives you and hunt down intel on them. Doing so will allow you to punish a few bad players without having to worry about anything else.
  • Breach is a classic example of the flash-and-dash mechanics that make up the core gameplay of FPS games. He received a buff that will increase the area he can affect, which is a significant improvement in-game.
  • Breach may not be the best agent in Valorant for swiftly running across the map or throwing molotovs, but he can efficiently hold down a site or take control while attacking. Make sure to understand the advantage he provides before running into fights.
  • One of the main weaknesses of Breach is that he requires high levels of coordination and communication with his teammates. This makes him hard to play with his best abilities when solo.

The most effective way to use Breach in Valorant is as an entry fragger. The Phantom is a perfect gun for him, and you want to team up with agents like Jett, Raze, or Yoru, who can easily take site control while Breach flashes the essential entry points.

With the right combination of skills and map knowledge, you can climb the ranking ladder with ease using Breach, and with a kit that's as versatile as his, you can turn any bad situation on its head.
